		<description>Hi Christopher,

Hends body glass is a great material ... they have a lot of fantastic products. I have a local retailer that carries Hends products and I buy it off the shelf there. If you cant find a fishing shop close to you that carries Hends then you can purchase online from Czechoslovakia. Copy the URL between the brackets below and put it into your URL bar in your browser and it will take you to the page showing the product. I have found http://www.czechnymph.com/en/ to be very reliable and good to do business with but with all internet shopping you should exercise normal care.

The URL is (http://www.czechnymph.com/en/e-shop/body-materials/bgk-01-body-glass-round-transparent-body-glass-round).

Regards,

<description>I have tested a number of materials for the head on my stick caddis imitation and have found that closed cell foam with a burnt tip and floating poly yarn with a painted tip work best. It&#039;s significant that both the materials are buoyant. If you have ever watched a stick caddis swim you will see that they assume a horizontal attitude and basically just float around with the current and have very little propulsion. The buoyant materials that I use offset some of the weight of the bend and bite of the hook and help the fly to imitate the natural and swim horizontally. Visually there would not be a problem using a bunch of golden pheasant tippet as the head but you may need to add some buoyant material in the dressing toward the bend of the hook to help the fly maintain its horizontal posture when sitting static or being slowly retrieved. A third buoyant fly tying material I have not tested for the head of the fly is deer hair. It&#039;s likely that a small bunch of yellow / green deer hair butts with the tips touched up with black varnish would also work well. I&#039;ll trial this in the next short period of time and send you an update to this response. Hope this helps.
