Allbright knot
This Albright knot is the knot I use for joining lines of two different diameters such as braided backing to a thicker monofiliment or fluorocarbon leader.

- Form a loop in the leader.
- Take the end of the braid backing from the front and pass about 4″ of the braid through the loop.
- Hold the intersection of where the braid backing passes over the back of the leader loop between the thumb and for finger of the left hand.
- Wind 8 touching turns of the backing away from the back of the loop.
- Then take 8 turns of the braid back down to the back of the leader knot.
- Pass the tag end of the braid back through the original loop and wet the components of the knot.
- With the thumb and forefinger of the left hand holding the braid and the the thumb and forefinger of the right hand holding the braid progressively tighten the knot completely up.
- Trim of the excessive tag ends of the leader and the backing.
