Chatto's grub tail prawns
I have made this particular soft plastic for a couple of years now and have managed plenty of solid flathead in the Gladstone Narrows prior to my move north of Brisbane for family and health reasons.
The body length of the original soft plastic is 3.5 inches.

With the help of family I am significantly better now and am getting back into my fishing this time predominately on the dark side.
This last weekend I made some size changers to my grub tail prawn shown above and am looking forward to giving these smaller soft plastics a swim.
The body length of this smaller version is just 3 inches, the grub tail is 1 inch and the head and eyes are half an inch.

- the first step is to make up a frame to house the new mould. That is made up of core flute.
- The next step is to make up a smaller version of the original sot plastic. to achieve that I cut out the widest part of the body of the original mould with the thick part missing using my “cake” burner.
- That was about an inch of the body that contained the legs in the original mould.
- Then I melted the two remaining section of the original mould together.
- the vertical height of the mould has to be the height of the body and legs of the finished lure.
- I will see that in the photo above I forgot the eyes, ill rectify that with my next batch.
