Most of what I have learnt has been accumulated by reading books and magazines, by talking to and watching others, by imitating some fly fishers whilst trying to avoid the antics and pitfalls of others and by carefully observing a range of fisheries I have been exposed to. If there is any new knowledge contained in this web site I can assure you that whilst I am very proud of it, it was probably accumulated accidentally.

I am not a plagiarist and want to acknowledge that if you search deep enough, that for every fly, concept and understanding represented in this website, that you will find a similar flies, concepts, methodologies and understandings credited to one, and in some cases, more than one other person.

Sometimes where I have found anecdotal evidence or recorded claims to ownership of various fly recipes and concepts interesting enough, or helpful in some practical fly tying or fishing sense, I have included that information in the introduction of the relevant fly. More often than not however, in the interest of economy of words I have simply described what a particular fly may represent and how it may be fished.

Finally I can assure you that I learn something new almost every time I go fishing and some of what I will learn in the future will probably correct misunderstandings that I have embellished in this web site. In the final analysis this web site is nothing more than, my current understanding of a simple and ordered way of approaching and understanding what causes a fish to take a fly and tying flies that initiate strikes. It's a record of where I am at with my fly tying and fly fishing journey.
