{{+1}}Make a soft plastic … catch a barra{{-1}}
{{start}}
One of the things I still enjoy about fly fishing is tying a fly and then catching a fish on that fly ... it's a fantastic sense of achievement.
Unfortunately fly fishing options around where I live in Central Queensland are limited by strong prevailing winds and strong tidal flows so more often than not I find my self indulging in my second fishing passion which is targeting barramundi and other species with soft plastics ... I even got a 5th place in the Lake Awoonga Open last year doing just that.
Until recently the missing element in fishing for barra has been I haven't been able to design and make my own soft plastics. Over the last 6 months I have addressed that and have developed a process of making my own top pour soft plastic moulds, making the actual soft plastics and rigging them up in my own very personal way and I have got to say that has added that fantastic sense of achievement into my dark side soft plastic fishing.
The 5 barra above are all over a meter and have been caught in Lake Awoonga over the last 5 weeks on soft plastics that I rigged up in my own very personal way on soft plastics I poured myself in moulds for top pour soft plastics that I finessed and made myself.
