{{+1}}SELF SERVICE YOUR PFD{{-1}}
{{start}}
It's not a difficult or complicated process but it is an important requirement and one that may save your or someone else's life in the future. With that in mind if you feel confident in your ability to service your own manually inflatable PFD you can do that. Alternatively you can take your inflatable PFD certifier and they will do the job for you for a fee.
This has to be done once a year for each of your PFD's and I prefer to service my own inflatable PFD's. I find it a cathartic process rather than a chore.
Having said that, if your going to service your own inflatable PFD's a good starting point is to google search the brand and model of your inflatable PFD to find a certification sheet for each of your PFD's and follow that meticulously.
I have a number of PFD's in service at any one time and that is currently 3 in each of my two boats. There are no two that are the same so what I have done is google searched the self certification process for each PFD and whilst they are all similar, rather than get confused, I have melded all the steps into one worksheet and that is what I have set out below.
