We are moving closer to the bream spawning season:

That brings the bigger bream back to the sandy beach areas close to estuary systems to spawn and then after spawning they either mover to close by rocky shores or move into estuary waters for the winter staying there until the waters start to warm.

The habitats that juvenile bream and mature bream share in estuary systems includes natural environments made up of weed beds, the edges of mangrove banks and coastal trees, inundated vegetation, overhanging trees and drowned trees and vegetation, sandy and muddy areas, rocky reefs, and rock bars and also man-made environments including rock walls, bridge pylons, jetties, pontoons and bridges and under moored boats etc.

So, with that in mind and because I have seen plenty of bream around boat ramps in the last couple of weeks you may want to give a little thought to getting you bream gear ready … I have certainly started doing just that.

My most successful fly for beam for many years has been the small, version of my Mud Prawn and on the dark side the bait I have had the best results in recent times is the Zman 3.5 inch soft plastic prawn.

More details of those two baits and heaps of other options for bream flies as well as soft plastics and hard body lures, vibes and blades etc are on two pages I have linked above … tight lines to all.
