{{+1}}Booby blob{{-1}}
{{start}}
Both boobies and blobs are each tremendous search flies in their own right particularly for stocked rainbow trout. This fly presents the best of both of those worlds and has the head an tail of a booby and the body of a blob. With a little flash in the tail it's one screamer of an attractor pattern.
Best fished on a 2 or preferably a 3 fly loch style leader connected to a Type 3 to 5 sinking line. I like the booby blob as the bob fly (top dropper) and a weighted bugger on the point to anchor the team. On the middle I try to match the hatch or what from research or experience you expect to be on the trout's menu at the time as best I can. Put out a clean long cast, count the team down to the desired depth and then work through a range of retrieves from fast roly poly to very slow twitch retrieves. Always hang you flies as that can be the most important fart of your retrieve some days.

I build my marabou tail for these flies in three levels.

For the second level I like to add 6 strands of silver angel hair to the tail and do it at this stage so that it will be partially covered with the next layer of marabou rather than it being on the outside of the tail. Angle hair is very thin and a bit difficult to work with so I suggest you tie it in in two steps.
