My tropical Pacific sand flats & coastal flies

This is my suggested fly selection per species for a weeks fishing for tropical island target species on fly.

Rubber legged gotcha – Etu inspired

The story line was that the bonefish had refused every fly they had offered the day before so for the next days outing Etu tied this fly on the beach and then they walked straight into the water and immediately hooked a fish ... gee it must be a good fly. Anyway I do like it because Aitutaki bonefish do seem to like flies that incorporate a yellow component.

Tidal flats shrimp – orange and brown

This orange and brown size #2 hook version of my tidal flats shrimp is my first choice of fly when targeting feeding trigger fish. It stands out in the storm of mud and other debris that trigger fish stir up as they forage around for food.
