When fingermark (AKA golden snapper) were named as on of the fly species for the 2020 Boyne Tannum Hook Up I started researching the species seeking any information I could find about targeting them on fly … can’t find any . From what I can find they are in our local river and estuary waters and frequent deeper holes and structure making them a difficult fly option. I think the key to success will be getting your choice of fly into their holding zone and then of course getting their interest.

{{+1}}Species – Mangrove Jack and Fingermark{{-1}}
{{start}}
They chase the same sort of food items as bream, grunter and flathead including prawns and shrimp, small fish, crabs, molluscs such as rock oysters and worms so it is not surprising that representations of prawns and small bait fish preferably tied on solid #2/0 or #3/0 hooks are great flies for mangrove jack and fingermark.{{end}}
