Articulated slow roller

Tied in either Qantas or brown bomber colours this is a great fly when targeting barra in Lake Awoonga and other barra impoundments on those quiet days when the barramundi are sulking and you need a fly that is going to be in their face for a relatively long time but still active.

Awonga spills at dam wall taking plenty of fish into the Boyne River

Every cloud has a silver lining I am told. The silver lining for the horrendous weather and damage associated with cyclone Debbie is that Awonga dam has started to spill taking heaps of fish into the Boyne River. Over the next short while as the river flow settles down the barra fishing should be very exciting.

Redfin in Jindabyne, Eucumbene & Tantangara ????

Here is an interesting email from Steve Samuels that I wanted to share with you. Redfin are prolific breeders and carnivores ... if the right precautions are not in place, with no chance of mishap, their numbers will quickly out-compete trout for food and as soon as they get to any size they have the predisposition to eat trout fry and fingerlings.

Gold TBH CDC brown fuzzel jig bugger

These are the only woolly bugger type flies that I now carry in my river fly box. They are a step up from my earlier version in that I have added a CDC under wing directly behind the front hackle which I have reduced down to just one full turn. I tie them in sizes #10 and #12 in just 4 colours.

TBH “inch” nymph

This fly has it's origins based on my non bead-head inch nymph fly that I started tying over 20 years ago. For about 10 years now I have been tying this bead-head version in in black, dark olive, Adams colours, claret and brown. It's a great buggy looking fly and one of the on-going inclusions in my nymph fly box.
